Lambda Theta Alpha Latin Sorority, Inc., was founded at Kean College (now Kean University) in Union, New Jersey in December of 1975. Thanks to tremendous strides made by our Founding Mothers, the organization grew to become the first Latina-based sorority in the nation. Since then, Lambda Theta Alpha Latin Sorority, Inc. has continued to pave the way, growing to include more than 100 chapters nationwide and in Puerto Rico.
Lambda Theta Alpha is a philanthropic, academic-based sorority dedicated to scholarly excellence; empowerment of Latinas and the Universal Woman; cultural and political awareness and community activism. Our principles are Unity, Love and Respect. The sorority was established as a network and support system for women of all ethnicities in higher education. We are "Latin by Tradition, Not By Definition.”
