Unity for the Community
"Unity for the Community" is an event founded by Chi Chapter in an effort to give back to the community. Unity for the Community includes a month-long canned food drive with campus-wide participation. At the closing of the event, the organization that donated the most canned goods receives a plaque.
The annual Unity Jam was founded by Chi Chapter to unite organizations for the common goal of raising resources for a national/local philanthropy.
Since 1998, the Notorious Chi Chapter of Lambda Theta Alpha Latin Sorority, Inc., at the University of Florida, has hosted a scholarship and charity fundraising party called Unity Jam. . More than 50 Greek and collegiate organizations have participated in the event’s 19-year history, including all NPHC, NALFO and MGC organizations. Unity Jam has benefited the Sept. 11 Widow and Children of Firemen Fund, the Boys and Girls Club, the Hurricane Andrew Relief Fund, the United Negro College Fund, the Hispanic Scholarship Fund and Hurricane Katrina victims, among many more.

This year, our philanthropy was focused on shedding light on the importance of the five sense. We hosted a "See the Signs", an interactive forum based on American Sign Language , "Feel the Love", a community service event at Vetspace. We also hosted a canned drive all month who's proceeds were donated to Taller Salud, a PuertoRican organization that helps sexual assault victims. We are thankful for all of your support!
